My weight is coming back down to where it was last week. I know that it is not because I switched from a low carb diet to a low fat diet. I am just on my way back to my set-point. Now if by the end of the week I am down below 216, then I will think that the low fat diet has helped me lose some weight. Remember to keep all of the factors in play when you are trying to figure out what is going on.
I cannot stress it enough, that you need to keep a good record of everything that you are eating, exercising and doing. I keep mine on an excel spread sheet that I started doing a little over four years ago. I know that you might think that I am a little intense on this, but it takes about ten seconds a day to add in my weight, how many steps I took for the day and a couple of details about my exercise for the day.
It is kind of cool to look back and see what I did 1,2, 3 or 4 years ago and see what I was doing and how much I weighed at the time. It is nice to know how fast or slow I was running or riding my bike. I am preparing on running the Bloomsday that I have ran every year. Three years ago was my best time, so now I am going to try to follow the schedule that I was on then. That way I can see if it is the training schedule or if it is just because I am getting older.
I also know that the lowest I have weighed in the past four years is 203.6 and that is when I was after I was doing some construction work our house and it was very hot out. Then next year I was training for a marathon and only got down to 206.8. Since then I have weighed anywhere from 208 to 228 and now I am right in the middle of my range. I know that I can get back down below 210 it will just take more work and dedication.
Yesterday I consumed 1293 calories, 100 carbs and 60 fat grams. I think that the calorie intake might have been a little too low for me, but I did not feel like I was starving myself. I had some leftover pizza for lunch and had a few apples, bananas and Gold Standard Chocolate protein Shake.
My exercise was another new P90X:90-Day Extreme Home Workout Program and I did not like it either. I think I have gotten used to the original ones, so now when he starts to throw new things at me I am not ready for them. I guess they are ok, but I have no history. So I am not sure what weight to use, the next time through will probably be fine.
